Man, the man is NON-STOP
Throughout the whole play, Alexander is relentlessly fighting for the freedom of America. He always seems to be working harder than everyone else, and this is showcased amazingly in the song, Non-Stop.
- Becoming a leading lawyer
- Sent to the Constitutional Convention
- Always speaking his mind
- Helps write the US Constitution
- Writes 51 essays of the Federalist Papers
- Leaves Eliza to help the greater good
- Becomes Washington's right hand man
- Is put in charge of the Treasury
In my opinion, the best display of Alexander's relentlessness can be seen in his push to write the Federalist Papers. In this song it says, "The plan was to write a total of twenty-five essays, the work divided evenly among the three men. In the end, they wrote eighty-five essays, in a span of six months. John Jay got sick after writing five. James Madison wrote twenty-nine. Hamilton wrote the other fifty-one!"
Not only did he write more essays than planned for in the beginning, he wrote double! The fact that one man could write double the amount of essays planned for three men in only six months is outstanding! Alexander was said to, "write like [he was] running out of time."
So, it's that time again: What do you think is the best showcase of Alexander's devotion and determination? It'd be great to bounce ideas back and forth in an effort to truly appreciate all of the work that this man did in his lifetime.
I think that Alexander's unwillingness to give up was the best show case of his determination! He dodged almost every bullet shot at him, except a few, one being fatal!! He tried his hardest even when the world seemed to be totally against him!! I like your thoughts in this post, Morgan!!

ReplyDeleteI think you captured the spirit of both Hamilton's character and the musical as a whole very well. Alexander's chief character trait, and the thing that drives him more than anything else is his work ethic. Between all he did in the war, the Federalist Papers, his work as Treasury Secretary and more, the musical does a great job of driving home the fact that he never stopped working.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the statement that Hamilton is relentless. The fact that Hamilton is always trying to do more and more, despite what his accomplishments shows, that he will not stop until he gets to the top. His dedication to the Federalist Papers is just one example that shows this.
ReplyDeleteI think that Hamilton is always striving to do better for himself, and for the betterment of the country that his children are going to grow up in. I think that he thinks about where he came from and what he had growing up and wants better for his future self, and for the future of his family. I feel like he is continuously pushing forward when most would've already given up.
